Back{on}line ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit yourbackonline.com, how we use it, and what rights you have. It's written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
Back{on}line is operated by Craig Harrison, who is the data controller for the personal data collected through this site.
Contact: craig@yourbackonline.com
2. What data we collect
Right now, the only personal data we collect is the email address you give us when you sign up for launch updates using the form on this site. We don't currently collect names, payment details, or any other personal information through the site.
3. How we use your data
We use your email address for one purpose: to let you know when Back{on}line launches. We won't use it for anything else, and we won't send you marketing emails beyond that launch notification unless you separately opt in later.
4. Our legal basis for processing
We process your email address on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR), given when you submit the signup form. You can withdraw this consent at any time — see Section 8 below.
5. Who we share your data with
We use Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group LLC) to store signup addresses and send the launch email. Mailchimp processes this data on our behalf as a data processor and may store it on servers outside the UK/EEA, including in the United States, under appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent standard contractual clauses. You can read Mailchimp's own privacy policy at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy.
We also use Google Analytics (Google) to understand site usage — see Section 6 for details.
We don't sell or rent your data to third parties.
6. Cookies and analytics
This site uses essential cookies needed for it to function, and Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the site (e.g. pages viewed, time on site, general location and device type). Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information anonymously in aggregate — it does not tell us who you personally are.
Analytics cookies are not essential, so they only run once you've given consent through our cookie banner, provided by Silktide Consent Manager. This banner sets one strictly necessary cookie to remember your cookie preferences (accept/reject choices) — Silktide's tool is open source, self-hosted on our site, and doesn't collect or transmit any personal data to Silktide itself.
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time via the cookie settings link in the site footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
Data collected by Google Analytics is processed by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC and may be transferred outside the UK/EEA under appropriate safeguards. Google's own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep signup email addresses until we've sent the launch notification and for a short period afterwards, or until you unsubscribe — whichever comes first. If you unsubscribe, Mailchimp retains a suppression record to make sure we don't email you again.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Withdraw your consent at any time (e.g. by unsubscribing via the link in any email, or by emailing us)
- Object to or restrict how we use your data
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email craig@yourbackonline.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9. Children
This site is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site develops — for example, once Back{on}line launches and starts offering website-building services. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
